ALEXANDRA – one show only |
Australian stand up comedian Joanne Brookfield and her beloved German Shepherd-cross Murphy spent twelve years together getting up to all sorts of mischief. Stealing food from housemates, scaring pizza delivery boys, and hiding in the shower on Christmas day …sometimes Murph would even do the same. But this isn’t a show about ‘have you ever noticed how dogs are different to cats?’ It’s about bigger things - life, death and how much Joanne despises carrying pooh around in a bag. It celebrates the amazing bond we are able to form with an entirely different species. “A vigorously feel good show,” said The Age, Joanne “oozes warmth but is never mawkish.” Princess Pissy Pants The Greedy Cheese Eating Bitch and Other Naughty Dog Tales, a “must-see” said The Age, sold out during the 2005 and 2006 Melbourne International Comedy Festivals; the 2005 Melbourne Fringe and 2006 Adelaide Fringe….and now makes it’s international debut in New Zealand with a three-city tour of the South Island. The show will be performing in Alexandra during the Blossom Festival, a season at the Dunedin Fringe Festival and a night in Christchurch. The show raised more than AUD$5,500 for dog shelters in Australia and whilst in NZ will be raising money for the great work the Otago SPCA do for lost and abandoned dogs and other animals. “Joanne Brookfield is a must-see” “Howling success…had the audience in fits of laughter” – The Advertiser, Adelaide. 2006 Book early |

OTAGO SPCA Whilst in New Zealand, the show will be raising money for The Otago SPCA, who "speak for those cannot speak for themselves". Their main work involves: - Investigating complaints of animal cruelty - taking any necessary action (i.e. relieving suffering, issuing instructions, or prosecuting in severe cases). - Prevention of cruelty through education - programmes in schools, talks to clubs and service groups, and offering advice and assistance where necessary. - Providing a safe haven for unwanted or stray animals - best of all, they would never refuse any animal and endeavor to place all suitable animals into caring, loving homes. They also do a heap of other stuff as well, like takes dogs into hopsital to cheer up sick people, and there's lots more info about them and the fabulous work they do at:
